The motivation for our workshop is the Collective Memory Work seminar on the topic of being “the expert” in which we took part in spring 2025. The seminar led us to a critical examination of our identities as young researchers with a background in social sciences – psychologists, sociologists and lawyers – who are, regardless of our factual experience, socially attributed with expertise. During the Symposium workshop, we would like to present conclusions coming from the seminar, as well as our reflections on the process of Collective Memory Work as a systematic method.
Our objective in the session is to engage in an exchange about the contradictions and irritations of (not) being, or (not) becoming an expert – including an expert in/on CMW. The session will take place in an interactive format based on the input of participants.
